Geo Kingsbury's 50th Anniversary Show Brings In Orders Worth £1.6 Million

Evidence that UK manufacturing continues to invest strongly in top-end machine tools is provided by Geo Kingsbury, which took orders valued at £1.6 million at its open house on 15th and 16th May 2007. The event was held to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary and was well attended by 350 people from OEMs and subcontractors across the UK and Eire, with over three quarters attending a gala dinner on the first evening.

All machines on show were built in the Baden Württemberg area of Southern Germany by Geo Kingsbury's principals - Index, Traub, Hermle, SHW and Dürr Ecoclean, whose washing machines were exhibited for the first time in the UK since Geo Kingsbury took over the agency at the beginning of 2006. Two of the machines sold were a highly productive multi-spindle CNC auto from the Index MS range and a Hermle C 50 five-axis machining centre, a new model launched at the show capable of supporting two-tonne workpieces.

Commented managing director, Richard Kingsbury, "We were delighted with the response from our existing customer base and were very pleased to welcome many new companies. Our principals supported us well too by sending senior representatives to attend.

"The feedback that we have received from our customers has been overwhelmingly positive, not only regarding the products but also the overall show format. The dinner at Southampton Football Club and the ability to network amongst some 300 like-minded engineers proved a really successful combination."
